FUND DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

Future Generations Foundation’s mission is to provide resourcing to create meaningful opportunities that improve the quality of life for First Nations.

The Fund Development Officer is a key member of the Future Generations Foundation’s team, responsible for planning, implementing, and managing fundraising initiatives to support its mission and goals. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Fund Development Officer will engage with donors, build lasting relationships, and ensure effective communication to maximize donor contributions and community engagement. This role requires a creative, organized, and result-oriented individual passionate about making a difference.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising Strategy & Execution:

·       Develop and implement annual and multi-year fundraising plans to achieve financial targets aligned with organizational priorities.

·       Manage donor portfolios, including individual, corporate, and foundation donors.

·       Identify and explore new revenue streams, including corporate sponsorships, major gifts, planned giving, and monthly donor programs.

·       Execute innovative fundraising campaigns and initiatives to attract new donors.

·       Ensure alignment between fundraising activities and broader organizational strategies, including communication, donor recognition and organizational messaging.

·       Analyze the success of past campaigns and recommend improvements.

 

Donor Relations & Stewardship:

·       Manage donor recognition and stewardship programs to ensure lasting partnerships

·       Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, and foundations through regular communication, events, and personal outreach expressing appreciation and sharing updates on the impact of their contributions.

·       Prepare personalized proposals, impact reports, and donor acknowledgment materials.

·       Identify potential new donors through networking, prospect research, and community outreach.

Grant Writing & Corporate Sponsorships:

·       Research funding opportunities from government agencies, corporations and foundations that align with Future Generations Foundation’s mission.

·       Prepare and submit compelling grant applications and proposals.

·       Develop corporate partnership proposals and manage sponsorship agreements.

·       Track grant deliverables, ensure compliance with funding requirements, and report outcomes to funders.

Fundraising Events and Campaigns:

·       Plan, organize, and execute engaging fundraising events and donor appreciation nights.

·       In collaboration with Communications, create innovative online and offline campaigns to drive engagement and donations.

Donor Data and Reporting:

·       Oversee the donor management database, (DonorPerfect), ensuring that records are accurate, up-to-date, and secure.

·       Generate detailed reports on fundraising performance, donor retention, and campaign outcomes for internal use and board meetings.

·       Ensure timely donor acknowledgments and receipts for contributions.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:

·       Work closely with the Executive Director and Board of Trustees to leverage their networks for fundraising opportunities.

·       Act as a liaison between the Future Generations Foundation and external partners, including community groups, corporate sponsors, and local media.

·       Represent the organization in networking and stakeholder engagement opportunities to advance fundraising objectives.

·       Works effectively and collaboratively with colleagues across all departments.

Marketing and Public Relations:

·       Support the communications team to develop and execute communication plans to raise awareness about the organization’s mission and programs.

·       Work with the communications team to produce donor-friendly materials such as brochures, annual reports, and newsletters.

·       Provide input to communications to use social media and other platforms to amplify fundraising campaigns and success stories.

Compliance and Ethical Practices:

·       Ensure all fundraising activities adhere to ethical standards and comply with regulatory requirements.

·       Maintain transparency in all fundraising practices to build trust with donors and the community.

Data Management & Reporting:

·       Maintain accurate records of donor activities in the CRM system.

·       Provide detailed reports on fundraising progress and donor engagement metrics.

Education and Experience:

·       Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Business Administration, Communications, Non-Profit Management, or equivalent experience).

·       Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in fundraising, grant writing, or related roles, preferably in the non-profit sector.

  • Work experience serving First Nations and communities is a strong asset.

Skills:

·       Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to engage donors, sponsors, and community members effectively, including the ability to create compelling donor materials and presentations.

·       Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word

·       Excellent organizational and project management abilities, with strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

·       Creativity, initiative and a passion for the organization’s mission and commitment to making a difference.

Preferred Skills:

·       Experience with digital fundraising tools, social media campaigns, and online giving platforms.

·       Proficiency in using donor database systems (e.g., DonorPerfect, Raiser’s Edge, or other CRM tools).

·       Knowledge of non-profit compliance regulations related to fundraising activities.

Optional:

·       Certifications in fundraising or nonprofit management (e.g., Certified Fund-Raising Executive - CFRE).

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with job requirements, experience, and education.
