Jerri Bluecloud, an intergenerational survivor from Yellow Quill First Nation and African Nova Scotian, is the first in her family to pursue a university degree. She is currently working toward her Bachelor of Social Work at Dalhousie University with support from the FG Foundation Scholarship. Her educational journey is deeply personal, rooted in her commitment to advancing Indigenous rights and addressing systemic barriers.
Jerri works as a social work assistant with Mi’kmaw Family and Children Services, engaging directly with youth, families, and programs such as independent living camps. The scholarship will help cover tuition, textbooks, and her unpaid placement, easing financial pressures and allowing her to focus on completing her degree. Jerri’s goal is to provide culturally informed support and foster connection and healing within Indigenous communities, creating meaningful change for generations to come.
